Finaly got to dooin the 25-20 wcf barrel today...
Ruger heavy varmint barrel in 25-06..was 5he donor barrel..
Pics will not load tonight...
But had to do the barrel n have it index to the proper orient as so the pre drilled iron sight hole lined up strait..when the barrel is screwed into battery..
Kind of a pain to do but it came ot well... :0)
Dunno other than to purposly go to a test load...
But one would risk the rifle...doing that...i proof at max load data book load..
If there is one...
But most rounds that I make are a wildcat type... so...
Educated guess n exstrapulation from similar rounds load info...
That n a sand filled tire.. n some ...rope.. ;0)
If max book load is safe.. then 2/3 throttle should be fine..
Or mid way from starting load to max load...
There are a number of exsessive high pressure signs to look for when load development is going on...
I just figger that I show me successes... so it is only fair to..show the failures too..

onto the next project...
Found a 7/8"x 14 tpi tap...at the local pawn shop...
So cut an old single shot barrel n threaded it to accept a screw in barrel...
Which i have to make...
.256 win mag cal...
The plan is to mount the scope rail on this threaded barrel reciver..n be able to screw in barrels of different calibers..
That is a loading die screwed in it fer demonstration....
N if you think ...threading a hole that big ...strait n true is easy.?..by hand n eye...
It ain't....
Looks good ..now... but put a long barrel in it...
N the truth wil be revealed... :0/
To be continued...
Oh btw...a spot of weld demilled the chamber...
Just to be leagle... ;0)
Scope mounted n forearm roughed out...
As with most of me projects.?
There is a twist..
Turns out I already had a .256 mag barrel that was by chance a perfect fit...
It is a drop in 12 gauge barrel for most any break action shotgun..
So...this one is not threaded..
Not to worry tho I do have a .222 Remington barrel. To do the screw in part..
But for the .256 mag...barrel..
I had to make a complete forearm as I could not get a factory one to fit good'nuff..
Milled the scope rail to fit n drilled n tapped the reciver..
Easy one to do as i could just drill strait through n tap as the chamber is demilled for 12 gauge shells...

Progress...
If i am up to it..i might try to shoot a few groups...
Gotta load the ammo first tho..
Put a scope mount on the 25-20 barrel n a weaver j4 scope
Pluss the forearm on the barrel
Gotta do a little gun blue on spots n glass work in the wood parts
Got the barrel band to do it's thing..
If it goes well i may not need to screw in a holding screw...
We'll see..
