Tongue lashing?!?!?!? Could be worse .... they could "talk to him by hand." ![]()
Edit: Ya, ^^ was one a buddy of mine used back in the day [not w.r.t. hockey in particular, though he did play with the Brandon Bobcats].... haven't heard it used all that much since, or by others.

This [Team Canada 1972 website >> Facebook >> BHO] makes it sound like Clarke might not have acted alone:
“I remember John Ferguson giving the pep talk between the first and second periods. He kept repeating that someone had to take care of Kharlamov. I looked around the room, and realized he was talking to me.” Bobby Clarke
My SIL , grandson, and I took in a Flames/Sabres game Sunday at The Saddledome. Buffalo won,, that big guy Tage Thompson on the Sabres looks like a force for many years to come. (not sure why I gave the DC/MD thumbs up sign,, must've been a moment of weakness...)

It really is quite amazing how good the kids are getting - and how the development programs are getting them there. We used to think of "generational players" - the ones so good at an early age that they maybe showed up once every 10 or 15 years. Now, it seems like there's a young wizard every year or two - players like Bedard and This Year's Model, Macklin Celebrini.
Then again, these kids essentially become full-time hockey players around the age of 13 - which may not be the best thing for them in the long run. But the level of skills training, analytics and skills coaching they receive is amazing, and it's producing some amazing players.
It does make you wonder - if the various programs produce a Bedard or Celebrini every year - and kids who aren't that far behind them - what would a TRULY generational player look like in this day and age?
