2/15/1962 Seattle Breakers brawler Mitch Wilson was born in Kelowna, British Columbia. Wilson had an astonishing (single season franchise record) 436 penalty minutes in 1981-82, after having 253 PIM the year before. Somehow, Wilson is not the franchise career leader in PIM. That distinct honor belongs to his teammate, Phil Stanger, who racked up 929 penalty minutes in 192 games from 1980-83. Photo source unknown.

And severity like the Rielly case and many others,, the ref gives a major or game misconduct and then the league looks at it for possible suspension.
I don’t see where you’re going with your other query,, that’s my point, fighting WON’T be in the picture.
That scenario of a fighter not trying hard to gain PP advantage is off the charts weird (wink, wink, ridicule).

Sheesh,,, looks like he's wearing kidney pads like boxers. But ya, it's this kind of stuff that makes sane (wink, wink,, nudge, nudge) folks dismiss hockey as a sport. Go to the Saturday night fights if'n that's what ya like.

"... this kind of stuff... ." Yes indeedy, that's why I say a selective approach is best and why you don't see me endorsing or justifying it [eg. "protect" a team's investment a la McSorley, Semenko, et al] and why I routinely denounce* b.s. like: the circle around dance > players grab each other > officials clear the space > combatants whale away > officials stand back trying to make it look like they're doing something worthwhile > more whaling away > etc., and why I denounce the yapping [a.k.a. "agitating"/running off  at the mouth] that some endorse, as it "diminishes the game" in a general sense as well as specifically by precipitating the aforementioned b.s.  

Re. my "other query" .... doesn't "infraction > penalty > etc. > etc." describe the current situation [and what you endorse]  w.r.t. stick infractions?  Is it working?  IF it is working, I don't see how stuff would escalate to pugilism.   Sorry, but the only way I could make it more clear would be draw it in the sand with a stick.

Re. your newfound penchant for answering questions.... A couple of posts back I asked:

Well, from where I sit, you very likely could have answered half of them with the time/effort it took you to tabulate ^^ ...  factor in the number that would be adequately answered with a yes or no ... and the ones that were repeated  because no answers were given ... and the ones where one simple sentence could provide 2 - 4 actual answers .... and the ones where coming up with a non-answer is more time/effort than answering them ....  Man! I can see how onerous it all must be.  

For most of the time/years we've exchanged whatever it is we've exchanged, on whatever topic was up for discussion (?), aside from a few specific banjo/music questions,  you've assiduously avoided answering pretty much all my questions.   I'm kinda hoping your "turn over a new leaf" can wait at least until a new topic surfaces, rather than have you overextend yourself in the next few days.  Maybe we'd both appreciate a natural (?) place to shift gears.

I saw this two days ago - and although I admit to being a Bruins fan, I thought it was hilarious. I was hoping to find it again, but couldm't.

Marchand is one of those players who drove teams nuts. Including his own. Credit Patrice Bergeron, who sat him down (more than once) to discuss what Marchand wantedt to be remembered for.

Marchand hasn't beem am @$$#0le for three seasons; And he has been a leader, and a good captain. Look, I get why everyone else hates his guts. Then again, I get why almost everyone else hated Maroon.

And Maroon is a Bruin now.

I don't hate his guts [at least not nearly as much as I dislike the moniker little ball of hate].  I think can sum up my perspective as being a proponent of "put up or shut up" hockey, and having reduced respect for practicioners/proponents of the scrum/grab hold/wait for reinforcements to arrive/facewash part of the game. I acknowledge that others [fans, owners and lots in between] like it, and see it as an integral part of the game*.  C'est la vie?

Tortorella was cleaning the hoofs of one of his horses, sources said, when he felt a cramp in his arm.

The “cramp” was actually torn tendons. There are three different tendons — extensors, flexors, and abductors — that control different movements of the thumb. It’s unclear which tendons Tortorella injured.

The surgery can be routine on a young patient who has suffered a “clean” tear of the tendon. But for older patients who suffer more of a frayed tear than a snap or cut, the surgery can be a little trickier. Tortorella’s surgery could require a “tendon transfer.””

I "wonder about" situations where a coach is "letting off steam" [pro and/or junior] and the players are required (?) to sit stone-faced and look like it's just another boring day at the office.    I assume that it must be part of some "code" or other.

I was wondering what happened to his hand/wrist, too. What Chucky writes makes sense. Have long been a fan, primarily due to his bluntness and unwillingness to sugarcoat whatever's on his mind. For those of us in Noo Wingland accustomed to Belichickean stonewalling and evasion, Torts isn't a breath of fresh air - he's a coastal gale of it.

But to find out he also plays the banjo? No longer a fan. Now a fanboy! Anyone know if he's any good at it?
