Gotta love them Hammons tunes, Big Scioty, Greasy Coat, Sandy Boys, Camp Chase, you have to really listen to them to get inside them. Nice job, fine picking. I hear a faint trace of Little Birdie in this I never noticed before.

You're right, I heard Little Birdie in Singing Birds as soon as I started learning it. When I went looking for more words for Little Birdie, I found that the tuning that Roscoe Holcomb (Folkways 2363) used was the same and some have told me that it's often referred to as Little Birdie tuning. The version I had on Banjo Addiction site was me singing Little Birdie and playing Singing Birds in between.

Gorgeous & old sounding. What's especially nice about this is its "banjo-ness," ie. not a fiddle tune translated to banjo language.

Great choice for a "choice piece". Wonderful overtones; flowing sound. Most people would have difficulty playing this as skillfully as you do!
Don.

I liked it four years ago, and damned if I don't still like it.
