I first heard this song when it was released in 1993 in ireland as a dance track. It was slightly different, with a chorus of: "If it hadn't been for Cotton eyed Joe, id been a-married a long time ago....".
This version of the tune is class though, and its the one im learning now. It fits great with the lyrics on mudcat.org, http://www.mudcat.org/@displaysong.cfm?SongID=1353.
