Genre: Old Time / Playing Style: Clawhammer and Old-Time

Two versions alternate. The first one comes from Tommy Jarrell's Round Peak style, as taught to me by Adam Hurt. The second is my clawhammered rendition of the classic Scrugg's style first lesson taught in 3-finger style. The bluesy notes of Tommy Jarrell's compares with the major tones of the Scrugg's style, though both have slides.

Wow, you really got the Old Time Round Peak sound ala Tommy Jarrell! I have heard that Earl Scruggs had a solid OT background, but am not sure of his lineage, Round Peak, etc. That would be good to know and understand how to spot it in his music. Thanks for this interesting contrast study.

You seem like an astute student, too, Rick! And thanks.

My wife used to call me a 'stupid' (scuba) diver.

I agree with Lew! I almost didn't even listen to it, having worn out my desire to hear another "Cripple Creek", but this one's great! Love the style contrast and the crisp, authoritative playing.

Thank you for the kind words on my posts! This is really great. Well done. I'll have to learn this version too.

Thanks, Zac. There's an interesting forum called Sound Off! where you can post your MO3s and videos. You'll probably want to check that out.
