My cousin?s granddaughter has Down?s Syndrome and a couple of years ago was diagnosed with Leukemia, which is not uncommon for such children. After a grueling treatment regimen she went into remission status and when asked what she wished to do to celebrate, she wanted to have a big family party to mark the occasion along with her fourth birthday. I went to the party and promised her mom and dad that I?d compose a tune in her honor, and this is what I came up with. In Double C tuning.

Composed this years ago but just decided to record it. Added some guitar backup to fill out the sound a bit. It's not bluegrassy or Old-Timey, but it sounded a bit classical to me so at the risk of offending the purists out there that's how I classified it, and that's how I settled on the title, which may be pronounced Broken if you so desire. :>) In G tuning.

Yesterday our daughter-in-law gave birth to our fourth grandchild, Camille. Our other daughter-in-law had a boy in February, so that is two for us this year! The first three each has his/her own banjo tune composed by Grandpa so with this one Camille joins them. Heading down to Philadelphia in a few minutes to see the little one and the proud parents. I was thinking of composing a tune for the season and came up with a melody this week. Decided to go all the way and write some lyrics, which I've never done. I am uploading a clawhammer video which is a shorter version of this MP3 that has guitar and vocal tracks and is fingerpicked. Perry Como wasn't available for the vocals so yule (pun intended) have to endure my singing. Even after 13 years in the grave Perry's voice has to sound better than mine ever will. I'm including a page with the lyrics in the Sound Off forum post because with my singing you won't be hearing them clearly in the MP3. Anyway, hope you enjoy and have a good holiday season, whatever you may be celebrating. In Double C.
