Old Stephen Foster tune. Learned it first on fiddle during a lesson from Alan Stowell. Couldn't play fiddle worth a darn. Later learned on banjo. Played on my stock Deering Goodtime openback. Multi-tracked with myself on guitar too. Tuned up to ADADE, no capo.

Tune I learned from Chuck Levy while living in northern Florida. I recorded this in June of 2011 at band practice on the front porch here in the Houston humidity. Steve Bing on fiddle, Donna Bing on guitar, DW Jones on upright bass and myself on banjo. Banjo tuned to "sawmill, "lasses makin," or A-model tuning.

Old dance tune, learned from a NCLR recording. Don't know their original source off hand. Played on my 1924 Vega Little Wonder Conversion 5 string. Light gauge strings, fiberskyn on a 11 15/16" head. Tuning GCGCD.

Just doodling on the banjo with some attempted 2 finger picking. Trying to show the cool finger picking tone this 1920s Supertone 5 string has. Recently restored this banjo.

Learned this one from my childhood days. Adapted to clawhammer later! I like to play around with this one. I guess there are many versions out there. Played on my 1924 Vega Little Wonder Conversion 5 string. Light gauge strings, fiberskyn on a 11 15/16" head. Standard G tuning.

Originally a ballad about a woman, a rounder and murder (as many are!). Learned the general tune from a 1960's Dock Boggs Mike Seeger recording. Adapted to clawhammer from his style. Played on my 1924 Vega Little Wonder Conversion 5 string. Light gauge strings, fiberskyn on a 11 15/16" head. Standard G tuning.
