This is a 3 finger adaptation of a clawhammer banjo/fiddle tune Bob Carlin recorded on his album "Banging and Sawing." I kind of tried to put the Jim Reed feel into this one

Bob Dylan once said, "Roscoe Holcomb has a certain untamed sense of control, which makes him one of the best." I wanted to try one of Dylan's songs in Roscoe's 2 finger style. Tuning is f#DF#AD.

the gibson is first then the goodtime. song is big tilda-an old stanley tune-i know it's not perfect and a little fast but i thought the comparison was interesting....i re recorded the goodtime-sorry about the static-there are thunderstorms around today and i think they're affecting the recording.

One of my favorite tuner tunes, written by the late Jake Jenkins, one heck of a banjo picker. My first attempt on here with tracking, I'm playing my D28 for rhythm, I know i go the 4 when I shouldn't in the D-tuning part-that was a mistake but it's just for fun so I left it alone.....

BHO member Dan Hayes reminded me of this old time number. My clawhammer attempt at it-I played along with Bob Carlin's recording of it on "Fiddle Tunes For Clawhammer Banjo" a bunch of times until I got it-not just like Bob but I think there's some of his stuff in here...

My 3 finger version of Ward's Peachbottom Creek f#DF#AD, capo 2 to match the recording on "Roscoe Holcomb & Wade Ward" on Smithsonian Folkways.

An old traditional Kentucky tune I learned from Mike Seeger's "Southern Banjo Sounds" CD and Dan Palmer. This version is 2 finger in f#ADAD tuning. Roscoe Holcomb inspired this version too.

I was challenged at a recent old time jam to make a clawhammer version of Earl's down the neck break as tabbed in the Scruggs book for "Sally Goodwin." So here it is. Pretty meat and potatoes, first is me playing the break Scruggs style as tabbed in the book, then I give it a go clawhammer style.
