A song I learned in banjo lessons yesterday. I'm a beginner. 9 months, but with some lapse in lessons and practice. This one was easy for me to learn. Not sure why. It has an F chord in it which I don't know my chords yet. That chord is something I just learned. Usually, I play C chords in the past posts like Foggy Mountain Breakdown and Shuckin' the Corn. I even played it with my picks on. I'm very bad at not wearing my picks, but I managed through this without much trouble. I know I'm slow - trust me, my banjo teacher is working with me on that...as well as learning to play with other instruments playing at the same time. I can't handle that, but he is breaking me like a horse. :/

This is about my 14th week of lessons - give or take a week. Three months, but I've been slacking lately due to going back to school and being lazy. My instructor and I haven't met but once in the past three weeks so...this is the last song he gave me to learn three weeks ago. I only went through each part once instead of twice like you're supposed to for the sake of my sanity. I was making too many mistakes and having to do retakes. Enjoy :)

This was the first song I learned from my banjo lessons back in May 2014. I'm not using picks in this audio, so it's not as clear and crisp sounding. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cripple_Creek_(folk_song)

The intro to Dear Old Dixie. Almost 10 months playing banjo. Beginner. I'll add the completed song once I've got the hang of it.

Update to my progress of learning this song. It's been a month since I started learning this song. I don't practice every day like I should and I make SEVERAL mistakes in this recording. Sorry for my laugh at the end. I was just so happy that I made it through one lick without stopping. I was supposed to go through the song a 2nd time and then finish it with an ending, but I'll spare you. My pinky is starting to get a little callus on it. :)

Foggy Mountain Breakdown (Part 1). I've been taking banjo lessons since May (5 months) with two months not fully dedicated due to school. My banjo teacher broke down the song into five parts for me to learn. This is part 1 (without using picks).

I've been playing the banjo since May (minus two months for school). My banjo instructor is teaching me Foggy Mountain Breakdown in five parts. I'm learning three right now. I've totally butchered this, but I am loading it for myself to use as a baseline for improvement. I have no timing yet, so I know this is really off.

This is a difficult song for me because I don't have groove or IT whatever it is. My teacher has shown me the entire song and we broke it down into five parts. This is part 1. I'll practice and post the rest of the song soon. I like this song. It has a 50's rockabilly sound to it. Here is my idol, Earl Scruggs performing it 20x faster. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XF-SBW0TDPc

This is the latest song my teacher is showing me. I haven't been playing in a while because I was going to school and my teach has been busy. Haven't had many lessons recently. I don't know how to end this song, so I keep playing it over and over; however, I only go through it once in this posting.

This one is difficult for me being a beginner. The chords are G, C, G, C, G, D is what my instructor told me we were playing. I don't know. I only know when I'm in D and C. Apparently this must be a hard song to learn or a lengthy one because he normally will show me a whole song in one lesson, but this one he is breaking up into parts for each lesson.
