I was thinking the other day that there are many blues songs written about mood-altering substances like alcohol and cocaine; there are none, however, about the demon caffeine. I wrote this one; it is played on the long-neck banjo and 12-string guitar.

This is my arrangement of a great old song. This was the first song I played in public some 40+ years ago. I play 12-string guitar and banjo on this one.

This is a very rough demo for a new Christmas song I wrote in the folk tradition.

Recorded live at the Hardwick Library in Hardwick, MA on 12/14/11. This a rough demo for a new CD; the audience will be louder on the final mix. This is a traditional tune with verses that I wrote.

This song was written in 1864. It shows that people were growing tired of the continuing war and were ready for an end. This is played on my new long-neck banjo, capoed on the 1st fret to sing in F. No fancy playing, but I am not a fancy player.

This song comes from the 1920's and shows that things have not changed, at least not for the better.

I read this phrase on a bottlecap the other day and sat down and wrote this song. In our partisan times I think this is something we need to consider.

A fine old spiritual that reflects the freedom struggle of the past. My own banjo style with overdubbed guitar backup. This song is from my new CD that is dedicated to Pete Seeger.

AsI undertand it, these are the original words to the song Tom Dooley. It is written in the first person and lacks a chorus.I like this version a lot. Played in F with the long-neck capoed on the first fret.

Just a little bit of banjo foolery that I put together. Played on thelong-neck capoed up.

A wonderful old Celtic song. Some say it is Irish, some Scottish. No matter what the roots, it is a fun song and one I have played since the 1960's. I moved it over to banjo back in the 90's. Oddly, this is the only banjo tune on my upcoming CD.
