Ok here's an incredible sounding orginal flathead RB-12 owned by Mike Johnson. Jason Skinner thought this banjo is as close in sound to Don Reno's as he's heard. Unfortunately I'm playing it and not him!! Recorded using twin AKG-4033's into a Zoom H4 at 256 KBMP3. Flat eq, quite accurate.

This is the first time I've played the HR-30 at one of our shows. Recorded live at the Brewski Pub at near Smuggler's Notch Ski Area. This is in a 34' TB-2 pot, very good ring. EMD is a David Grisman tune fun to do. We take the feed right off the board. We use one AT-4033 into Zoom H4 Recorder

Joey Evans RB-75 Flathead... at the top of the food chain. Twin AT-4033's Zoom H-4 mp3 256KB Banjothon 2009! Amazing...up and down the neck, full, loose sound..all the attributes of what would be termed..the "prewar" sound, well... because thats just exactly what it is.

SteelRail Rattling Brook Festival 2008 1955 Tb-100 conversion with the Dannick 20 Nickle plate ring. Recorded at the sound station 150 ft out with Zoom H4 Recorde using the onboard mic's. People moving about and getting in front but this is as live as it gets and this Dannick powered banjo has it, tremendously powerfull

Wnat a treat this was! Nicky Sanders from the Steep Canyon Rangers is actually a naitive of Vermont! His mother was born and raised in Montpelier VT. Our band is located in this area. He does visit here every so often and we have been lucky to get him to sit in with us! Unreal talent on the fiddle and what a treat! Give a listen to his version of OBS with SteelRail. Nicky has played two show with us and I've got some real cool stuff. True Professial! No wonder he's on the national circuit! Recorded live Zoom H4 off the board.

35'-35 KK-11 I was fortunate enough to aquire this banjo from the orginal owner's grandson. Sometimes I think tone rings are way over rated Mahoganey neck made by Bill Hayes in Maine. This banjo was highly acclaimed for it's tone at last years BanjoThon, for good reason, very proud to own and play it, never will be cut!
