After nearly a year of Brownian motion around the various forms of Spotted Pony in Dan Leveson's book, I rediscovered Mike Iverson's site.
Eureka! Within a couple of weeks I'm faking it with Cripple Creek. Next stop is Oh Susanna......... with Dear Old Dixie waiting patiently in the wings.
Dan's book is good, but I think it suffers from a lack of guidance on how best to use it. For example, should one complete all the double thumb versions of tunes before progressing to any drop thumb versions........... and then some slurs? Mike's site more or less throws you into the pool and let's you kick out for the opposite side, using plenty of techniques.
