Hi All, well after three or four months it's started. The rollercoaster of Fame.
I was busking with my banjo, old timey clawhammer standards, for charity outside supermarket. Up came restaurant owner offering $50/two hours, free meal and tips. Just came home with the takings and shared meal with wifey. When I asked why me?, their response was that banjo is still such an unusual instrument....it's DIFFERENT.
I love it. BanjoHangout, Youtube, this is fast changing from interest to obsession.
Wifey said don't quit my dayjob, as I'm not due back till January....but hey.....professional musicians like me have to be patient right?
Good luck all, put yrself out there, you never know!

Altho playing party guitar for ages, in the last 2 years have discovered a fascination (addiction) to stringed instruments. You'd think I would have been more careful with a sausage mincer and my left index fingertip but there ya go. Anyhoos, I am just loving Clawhammer/Frailing. Lots of lessons for free on Youtube, downloaded heaps ya'll are very generous. Thank God for Wednesday Jam Nite here in the Matakana Hills. Anyone up this way please call in, us Mountain people don't bite. Kinda sorry I jumped in and got a Samick Asian knockoff two weeks ago, but it is fulfilling a need and sounding like a banjo. Dear Wifey hasn't said she's sick of Old Joe Clark just yet.. Update...now have two banjos and do a lot of busking for charity when the weather and lawns suit. Drop thumbing practice and Molly Tuttle amongst others. Clawhammer banko ululele some, and LOVIN ma mountain music. Beard's gone, most of the hair, eyes tattooed in back of my head. Love banjo above all other instruments...did I make that clear?
