I have never played Browns Dream or heard it played. Im testing my 30 bpm incremental practice routine to see if I can learn the song (not memorize) well enough to play it from tab at 150 BPM
I played the song once through at 30 BPM
This helps me to get a good look at the tab, and familiar with any galax lix or tricky slides, and fretting which lay within
Now 10 minutes of run through at 60 BPM
After this I have a good sense of the timing and rythym of the song, it also gives me an unrushed approach at new licks and fingering.
12- 15 min at 90 BPM
Now I get to know the song at 90 its just steady slow paced practice.
5 min break
Now I will play at 120 BPM until I can get through the song with comfort. I do make mistakes, but hey, Im just startin.
I went 10 minutes through and it sounds pretty good, but Im anxious to speed it up, but even at 120 the song sounds perty kewl.
10min of 150 BPm and to0 many misfrets and mis strikes
10 min break banjos are heavy
Then I record at my best pace without a metronome. The song is learned, but not mastered, Now it will be part of my practicing when I run through all the songs I know.
A pretty productive hour of practice
