Tyler Jackson is a true musical talent. When Tyler was just 8 years old he auditioned for a spot in a nationally known touring boys choir. He impressed the directors by naming any note they played. He later learned this was called “perfect pitch”. After 3 years of singing and traveling Tyler knew that music was for him, but his attention focused on playing musical instruments rather than singing. When Tyler was 12 he met Buddy Griffin who taught him several instruments. After just one year he was already playing gigs as a front-man and backup musician on bass, guitar, mandolin, ukulele and tenor banjo. When Tyler got an opportunity to play in Branson, he jumped at the chance. This is where he was featured on tenor banjo, playing on the Branson Belle riverboat, the Buck Trent show and the Jim Stafford show. Tyler's musical ambitions continued in High School, where his interest switched to double bass. Tyler played in various ensembles, such as symphonies, chamber orchestras and operas. He made the TMEA all-state orchestra from 2001-2004. At the same time Tyler had kept playing the tenor banjo. He played numerous festivals and was asked to give workshops and clinics across the USA. In 2004 he released his first CD “First Impression”. In 2004 Tyler enrolled in the jazz studies program at the University of North Texas and studied double bass with Lynn Seaton and Jeff Bradetich. This enabled him to play in lots of different ensembles there including the 3 o'clock lab band. During his time at UNT he quickly gained lots of experience working as a bassist in the DFW metroplex. Some of the events Tyler played for included private parties for people like T Boone Pickens, Jerry Jones, Rusty Wallace, Louie Anderson, and many more. In 2006 Tyler was asked to work off and on for country legend Ray Price, but by a year later Tyler agreed to play for him full-time. Traveling with Mr. Price took Tyler all over the world and gave him the chance to appear with such artists as Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Roy Clark, Loretta Lynn, Mel Tillis, George Jones, Little Jimmy Dickens, Ricky Scaggs, Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters, just to name a few. Tyler can be seen on A&E's “Last of the Breed” DVD, as well as heard on the live CD, the Grand Ole Opry TV show, and has played countless concert halls from the Ryman auditorium in Nashville to Radio City music hall in New York City. Tyler's most recent work includes three “Last of the Breed” tours featuring Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, and Ray Price as well as playing on Fox 4 news Dallas for jazz guitarist Earl Klugh, and the Jim Cullum jazz band.
