I got my new banjo in the mail today. I bought it used on ebay from someone in Florida. This thing has the flying eagle inlay that i love. I think it is walnut, not sure though. Whatever it is, it already has a fatter tone and just as much volume as my other banjo, which has a tony pass rim in it. I dk what is so special about this one, but it just sounds like its tightly fit together. It's not even set up to its potential though. I only have a half inch compensated bridge on it. I think i want a 5\8 bridge, not sure which brand. If anyone wants to suggest a brand and give reason why, i would love it. No idea what kind of tone ring in it. It came with keith tuners that i dk how to work. This banjo sounds more like an older gibson you would hear someone like earl or don play. It has more bass growl. My other one, which is mahogany, sounds more like an archtop. It seems kinda odd to me. Oh well, if any of you all have any ideas on why that is too, feel free to chime in. Ps. I still suggest that the Jason Skinner Reno workshop is the best learning material out there.
