I've been playing the guitar since 1956, and the banjo since 1968. I’ve had the opportunity to have played in two different local bluegrass bands, plus filling in in several other bluegrass bands during that time. I still play in a traditional bluegrass band. We've played festivals in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. We were invited to play at the Ozark Folk Center Auditorium on several occasions. We were allowed to set up and play out on the Center grounds and in the music store display room on the Center grounds. I gave banjo lessons at one time, but quit due to not wanting to be tied up on a continuous basis. I alternate playing my Gibson Mastertone RB-800 and my Recording King RK-85. My son has my Gibson Mastertone RB-250 to play with when he has time. I guess you would say I mostly play Scruggs/Crowe/Stanley style banjo. But, I do play some melodic, some Reno type banjo, and clawhammer, but that would be in the minority of my playing. I guess I just prefer the traditional Scruggs three finger style of the banjo, because that is what drew me to the banjo in the first place.
