Getting there.... well maybe

Sunday, October 14, 2007

I took the resonator off and loosened all the brackets. After tightening them in a pattern it got rid of the head ripple. Did some more reading on how tight the brackets should be and found out that the head needs to be tuned. I used the Sabine tuner and think I got that near where it's supposed to be. The instructions didn't say where to strike the head and there was minor variations depending on that. Decided to use the middle near the bridge to tune it with.

The Sabine tuner worked well. The first 3 strings were relatively easy. I'm not sure the 4th and 5th are right. 4 sounds dull to me and 5 sounds really tinny. Not knowing anything about music makes following some of the instructions hard to do.
