How does tightening the head (from g to g#) effect the tone can it remove some of the brighter tones or is it my own head needs tensioning??

started out in a bluegrass band in england called Rattlesnake for 4 years,played guitar and sang, then moved to norway started playing on the streets and have done so since 1982. always fancied picking a banjo and have at last taken the plunge, never too late eh,learning a lot from eddie collins , and my old friend joemac at this site.great help. Have written a few songs and tried recording at home on a p.c. have some songs on my homepage will add others as i become satisfied with the recording side other love is wooden boats and sailing em. great place to practice! no neighbors!!
