Born in Charlotte NC, I grew up in the heart of bluegrass country. I was destined to be a picker. Around 1972 I bought my first five string from a pawn shop in Concord NC and have been pickin ever since. I started building banjos when I could not find someone to do work on one of my banjos and worked under the supervision of some great custom builders. Now, I do all of my banjo work and build custom banjos.
