[Socializing]
Occupation: Chiropractor/Naturopathic Physician

Age: 71
My Instruments:
Washburn B120 antique look with updated gold Schaller tuners, Fuchs gold 1934 tail piece and stubby smith bridge. I also have a new 2018 reimagined HD28 Martin guitar that I purchased for Christmas. It has wonderful tone and plays well. I would love to update to a professional quality banjo after I learn to play banjo better. Future interests: I really like the Stelling Staghorn banjo-great deeper sound from walnut and awesome craftmanship , Deering Tensbrook bell like sound is very interesting but I dont think I will ever be a good enough player to play like Jens Kruger on it, The Deering Julia Belle banjo is a great sounding banjo in low tuning and think the artwork on headstock is creative and really like the redhead Julia Belle with flowing dress -I like the deeper sounds of E tuning-I would probably enjoy alot of playing in low E tuning (Deering John Hartford model in low E tuning is another option) .I MUST LEARN TO PLAY First!!!!!
Favorite Bands/Musicians:
Jens Kruger plays great.Love the cello Bach rendition .Bella Fleck plays wonderfully well too

I live in Nixa, MO. I have been a chiropractor for 35 years now, and a naturopathic physician since 1992. I currently own Chiropractic Plus, a Chiropractic/ Naturopathic/ and Acupuncture clinic. My family is all musical except for me.They sing, play the piano, flute, drums, etc. I told them that I wanted to join the church choir with them. They told me that if I joined they would all quit! My wife thinks I am tone deaf. I disagree, I think I have just never been trained properly! I can tell the difference in tone from various instruments and can tune them but can not hear the difference in my own voice because I am hard of hearing I have been looking for the right instrument for me. I started with a guitar several years ago,, but have become very interested in banjo. My first banjo was a Washburn B12. My current banjo is a Washburn B120. When I first started, I was playing in the basement when my wife came down and asked " what's that ?". I told her it was a banjo that I had just purchased from a patient for $125.00. She thought it over for a second and said " that is a good price...Merry Christmas". However, she also stated that all banjo music was hillbilly music. Hillbilly or not, I like it! I also disagree with her. I love the bell like quality and various intonations. I also like classical renditions. I never even understood what Blue Grass was...it seems like the goal is to play faster and faster, however I like to stop and smell the roses some too...to hear the bells and rings.I have begun! UPDATE:I have begun again after a long detour.I am trying to learn by the Murphy Henry Method now.I need to break the ice from just practicing to playing some simple songs! I think the Murphy method will be very helpful.
