Recovery from hand injury

Wednesday, January 29, 2014

About 8 months ago I had a very serious injury to my right (picking) hand.  The good news is that the surgeon did not have to remove my index finger, but after 8 months of intensive rehab I still have a very long way to go to regain my old form.

In the last couple of weeks, I have been able to start strumming on my Deering Sierra again and play some very basic bluegrass and melodic songs at around 40 to 50 bpm.  It's going okay but it is a steep uphill climb.

Has anyone out there ever experienced an injury that has affected their playing?  Does anyone have any tips for getting the banjo skills working again?  Let me know
