Well, it is now Friday - four days after I bought my first banjo.

The thing is a blast! I've played many guitars in the past and while some where just pure joy to hold and play, none of them have compared to the excitement I get from the banjo. I hardly put the thing down yesterday. It used to be my favorite sound in the world was a low crunchy distortion-from-hell on the electric guitar, but not any longer. Now it's that basic clawhammer strum: plunk-ding!

I have been using Dan Levenson's 'Clawhammer From Scratch' book and as of last night I am now fluid with the double thumb version of Spotted Pony in C. Next stop is tuning to double-d and learning the scale and repeating the brush and double thumb tabs, this time in D.

I am a writer by nature but I hear the banjo calling so I'm going to cut this short. Later! Add Comment
