As far as Scruggs style goes, I have rated myself as "Intermediate" on the skill level. I suppose that I am between that and novice. However, as far as my personal style, that is solely my own which is hard to describe but is kind of a combination of Scruggs, melodic, and clawhammer, that no one else has been able to duplicate, yet those who hear it like it, I rate myself as "Purty Good." With this style, it is also very easy for me to play and sing at the same time. I then switch to Scruggs on the breaks. Pure bluegrass players don't like to play w/ me because I am not pure bluegrass. Thus, I prefer to perform alone which I have for the last six years at the Cafe Kili in Temple Terrace, Florida. joe
