Does anyone know of any Oz banjo Luthiers that deal with conversion of vintage Vegas?Showing interest to know whether this field of work exists in this country.Zenith music in Western Australia is the main importer of the Deering and Vega brand and hold the monopoly of distribution on the brand in all states.Zenith does not sell used Vegas nor supply any conversion pots to Luthiers for modernisation with new necks.Not only this,but these people are very reluctant to ship their banjos to their dealers unless one makes a commitment to buy the banjo before trying and buying.Add to this,the fact that there are no outlets with dealer negotiations for vintage conversion vega banjos from the American contingent, dealing with remarketable instruments, and we have a lack of decent playable instrument that could be flooding the country.Throw in the fact,that the American freight for their products are exuberant costs ( Add high custom duties on import) with no assurance that the items thru freight will arrive safe and we have a real problem and turmoil with skilled craftsmen unable to meet the needs of musicians,music lovers, teachers ,students ect etc .....in the supply of decent instruments to creative people.When are things going to change and instead of creating borders between suppliers and artists it's time to get on the 'Bob Dylan Band Wagon':: Time for a Change.The discussion is open.
