A new next year.

Tuesday, December 29, 2015

Well, made it through another one. The first real snow of the year is coming down right now. We never had our usual thaw over Christmas, because it never snowed until now. Looks like a good day to sit inside and play some tunes; well, after shoveling. HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Have a great one filled with good times.

Been a professional musician for more years than I care to admit. Just too stubborn to quit. Although I also play Hammered Dulcimer, Ukulele, Keyboard and Guitar, the Banjo is still my first love. I enjoy doing the old standards but am always writing new songs and tunes to add to the mix. I am another player that owes his interest in Banjo to Don Zepp. We happened to both be in southern New Jersey at the same time in 1969 and after giving up on teaching me bluegrass style Don said "Well, there is this other style of playing.." It was all downhill from there. I spent my college years trying to play along to Flatt and Scruggs and finally worked my way towards Wade Ward and Gid Tanner and the Skillet Lickers. Never did start my learning until after I got out of college. Through stubbornness and perseverence I manage to play as a professional and have been lucky enough to travel to about a dozen countries and most of the US.
