I started playing guitar in 1967-68. I played guitar with Ronny Byrd from Pulaski Va for several years playing gospel and country music. I had the oppurtunity to meet and jam with Country music great, Mel Street in Princeton W.VA in his early years. Was friends with and had the pleasure of picking with the great Leslie Keith, the fiddle great that wrote the famous tune Black Mountain Rag. His daughter lived a few miles from me and I would go jam with him when he was visiting. Later in years I picked banjo with a Bluegrass Band named The New River Grass out of Wythe County Va. Presently I live near Pinehurst NC. I am no longer picking with a group but I do visit Clydes Music Barn in nearby Robbins NC and pick with friends and other venues nearby. I always enjoy a good jam. Love that Bluegrass music. Always willing to help out a banjo picker installing strings, heads, bridges and setup. I'm not a pro setup guy but I can get your banjo going again.
