I started on the 5 string @ around 6 years old. My dad was teaching himself out of Earl Scruggs book... Apparently I pestered him until he got me a banjo and showed me how. I started with a strong Scruggs base and added a melodic and chromatic twist. One of my strongest influences as a teenager was Mike Snider. His tasteful playing seemed like the right way to play. I still love his playing today. I strive to play clean yet tasty banjo. In May of 2007 I released my debut CD entitled Winds of Winfield. Supplying their tremendous skills on the CD is Grammy Award winning Cody Kilby and Andy Leftwich. Cody also engineered the CD at his studio in Nashville, TN. Bryn Davies and Randy Kohrs supplied powerful talent to finish off the instrumental melodies. I had the chance to travel the contest circuit and meet some amazing bluegrassers! I competed for years and accumulated numerous state titles. In 2001 I won Merlefest, Rockygrass and the National Banjo Championship in Winfield KS. It's a privilege to play music and share the passion that goes with the language of music.
