I was born and raised in Mulberry, Indiana a small town halfway between Frankfort and Lafayette. I was brought up in a musical family and can remember singing in front of my first audience at the age of 2 or 3, it was Christmas and I sang the song "All I want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth" in front of the Mulberry Mothers Club. I started playing banjo around the age of six and in the mid 70's started and played professionally with my first band, the progressive bluegrass band "Rawhide". I played with that band until around 1984. I dropped out of Music around 1985 and got into Civil War Reenacting and around 2000 started making my way back into music again and I played with the Americana/Newgrass bands "Deep Fryed Acoustiblasters" and the "Stringtown Pickers". I have played on stage with talents such as Nashville recording artist Alison Krauss, and Nashville studio artist Andrea Zonn along with numerous others. My mentors and influences include Bela Fleck, Tony Trishka, Earl Scruggs, J.D. Crowe, and John Hickman.
