Flatt and Scruggs and JD Crowe. My favorite banjoists are Scruggs and Crowe.

Grew up in the Midwest in the '50's listening to bluegrass on the radio and occasionally seeing a live Flatt and Scruggs concert. In 1964 the Army drafted me and assigned me to the Washington DC area, a mecca of bluegrass in the 60's. There I met Johnny Whisnant, one of the pioneer banjo players who had an early career with Carl Story. I was fortunate enough to have him as a friend and teacher for many years. I have been playing ever since.
