I was born in Monroe, North Carolina but moved to Pennsylvania at an early age. I started playing banjo while attending Edinboro University, at a free university site. I later moved to West Virgina, to cave. My banjo seemed to be a key which allowed access to individuals and a lot of caves that were closed to outsiders. I met and learned from several local banjo players there and still count many of them as my closest friends. In 2007 I attended a Folk College at Juniata College in Huntingdon, PA. Since then I bought the Stelling and can't get enough banjo. In February, 2008, I met a guitar player who had become disinterested in playing rock music. I introduced him to bluegrass. In July we added an upright bass player and in September we found a mandolin/fiddle player. Collectively we are the "Woolly Mammoth Brewgrass Brand." We had our first performance on April 24th, 2009 when we opened for "Hillbilly Gypsies" at Over the Mountain in Rockton, PA.
