Sometimes it pays to go back to basics. Last week, I decided to revisit Jack Hatfield's Bluegrass Banjo Method Book One as I'm trying to learn/improve on the basics. Part of that is getting a better knowledge of the fretboard. I was reading the text for one of the lessons and he mentions that moving the D7 position at frets 1 and 2 up two frets gives you a G chord. Lightbulb! I also have his book two, backup book, and best of book. I will work my way through lesson by lesson during my regular practice session. So much to learn and so little time. A word to the wise, don't just go directly to the tab and sound files of your lesson books. Read the lesson text first. Keep picking.

	Judith511 says: 12/26/2019 6:20:47 AM Well I guess the lessons are there for a reason. :) That sounds like a good plan. There is so much to learn and as you say so little time to do it in.
	pickn5 says: 12/28/2019 6:03:46 AM @judith511 yea sometimes you make the mistake OD jumping ahead and miss something important. I get about an hour of banjo practice most weekdays so I'm starting to split up my practice routine. One day pick a couple of tunes I know, then work on backup. Next day pick tunes I know and work on a new tune. On weekends I usually get 20-30 minutes a day so I pick tunes I know. Keep picking.
	WayneConrad says: 12/30/2019 10:24:21 AM There's much to be gained from going back to previous lessons. I find there's no lesson too simple to learn something from. If you got the lesson the first time, you get something different from it now that you know more. Or you find you missed something the first time that you get this time. I am guilty of skimming or not paying full attention to things, so for me I almost always find something I missed the first time (or second time, or third time...) through.
