Guys,

I have noticed a little movement in the neck of my '88 Whitestar... all the nuts appear relatively tight... this is my first Stelling. Shall I undo the co-rods and reattach to ensure no issues inside the neck ? Is that relatively straightforward ? Otherwise I will have to take it to the local Banjo tech...

	dpskala says: 2/18/2012 12:29:40 PM I assume your '88 Whitestar is the same as my '88 Masterpiece. There are two lag screws protruding from the neck. These pass through holes in the rim, and the two co-rods screw onto them. If you loosen the nuts at the tailstock end, you can snug the rods to the neck and rim by inserting a small screwdriver, rod, or nail through the holes in the rods and tightening by hand. Obviously do not overtighten. If they are loose, tighten just a little bit at a time, put back together and try. If that works, you will probably have to readjust the action. If any of this makes you uneasy, by all means, take to the banjo tech. The other possibility is that the lag screw(s) are stripped in the neck. This happened to me (twice) on an old Vega. In this case, if you are not a woodworker with some equipment, seek professional help
