Does any-one have any knowledge on the above Superstar, dated 9-16-80 # 1671.
It is currently for sale, and I have been after one for some time, but it will mean buying unseen as I am in England... !

David, If you don't buy it, I will. Who's selling it and for how much? Geoff

Hello Geoff, It is for sale on E-bay at $1950 starting bid. I think it's cheap, hence my slight apprehension.. the guy selling it is a member here, and I only know him by his initials RW. He also has a limited edition Masterpeice for sale here in the classifieds.
Nice to hear from you, and hope you are doing good. best wishes David

David, Could not find it on eBay. Could you give me an item number or a link? The asking price seems reasonable but could be higher. Geoff

Geoff, I am not at my home computer, so cannot check the listing as I saved it, but it looks like the listing has either ended, or the owner pulled the listing early as I cannot find it now. As of this morning ( in England ) there were no bids and I was the only person watching it... regards David

I found it through google. It seems like he had it listed for 2300 and dropped it to 1950. It says in the add that it's in Columbus, Ohio

All the best, Anders

Dave: I bought my Superstar used for 10.000 DKK, which was about $1850. It was a very good deal, but I think his price reflects the market right now.

Maybe he came to his senses and realized what a dumb thing he was doing. The banjo is really worth more like the $2300 he was originally asking. Geoff

Geoff - hadn't seen your post. I absolutely agree that instruments - yours most certanly included - are way underpriced today. I'm just very, very happy that i could afford a Stelling after all. It didn't look as if anyone had bid. You could try contacting him, Dave.

Dave and Anders, Thanks for the help. I've tried to contact the seller and am awaiting his response. I am surprised he had no offers. Geoff

Gentlemen, Any Superstar is one of only 140 made and therefore far rarer than the Whitestar or most other production models of the time. I still have one that was gold plated and engraved on the armrest and tailpiece for sale on my website at $3700, which is a reasonable amount for the options involved. I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Geoff
