Hey,do you have a Stelling banjo? I know you do if you're in this group. I just got one and trying to decide what string gauge it likes. All I have is 10 11 12.5 20w 10

I don’t have big strong hands but maybe a Stelling would sound better with heavier strings. If Mr Geoff sees this maybe he could recommend. Mine is 5550,a Golden cross.

Stellings typically use a lighter 3rd string, but I have some overtones that I didn't like so I tried the heaver 3rd string and they both have been rock solid ever since. The V730 sting gauges: 10-12-16-23-10

	gotvim72 says: 3/7/2022 1:28:28 PM I prefer the Stainless steel Med. LIght (10 12 13 22 10) on my Staghorn. I have been using the GHS brand as they are pretty affordable and easy to find, and play about as good as any I've tried.
	Geoff Stelling says: 3/8/2022 8:15:18 AM I prefer the Stelling Medium Heavies because of the heavier 3rd and 4th strings. Those are the strings I used to formulate my compensated nut and they work well for detuned 3rd and 4th strings as well as open C tuning. The Vega Mediums are close to my Medium Heavies. I don't like any 3rd string that is less than a 13. My preference is the .015".
