I'm now every happy owner of a 1998 'Sunflower'. I live in the UK and we do have a very good music and banjo company here who mainly deal in Deering. My banjo sounds great to my novice ears but I am going to ask these guys to check everything over for me. Now, the bridge seems an unknown part of the banjo. I suspect imports to uk are very poor right now ... so any thoughts on what I should look out for? ... Deering 'smiley' bridge?....

In my humble opinion nothing sounds as good on a Stelling than a Stelling bridge.

I have two Stellings and have tried many different bridges, just to see if I could find any improvement. Nothing sounded as good as the original Stelling bridges.

I'm sure the Stelling bridges sound wonderful! But sadly I'm thousands of miles/vivid and Brexit away!!! .... Um, next best thing or hints?

Not only do I have a Stelling Bridge on my Sunflower, but also other non-Stelling banjos. Don't feel a need to fix that which is not broken.

Hey team, guess I've not explained very well. ... I don't think the bridge on my sunflower is a stelling bridge. I wish it was! Since I'm guessing it would be difficult to source one in uk I was looking for any ideas of next best? ... Or ideas what to look out for??

Sorry to keep asking rather basic questions! ... I am assuming the bridge on my banjo is not a Stelling. But then how would I know? Are they stamped with a name/logo? Anyone got a picture of a standard Stelling bridge used on a Sunflower?....

They do have the name "Stelling" hot-stamped & very easy to see. Sounds like someone changed it out.

There have been all sorts of shenanigans getting some stuff imported to uk. However, I managed to phone Geoff and Sherry is sending me a bridge! Hope it gets through whatever is needed!!

Richj. Does your Stelling have the compensated nut? Most, even Geoff Stelling, have replaced those with regular, non compensated, nuts.
fwiw: I have been using Moon (compensated) bridges on both my Masterclone as well as the Stelling Montertone for years. Not sure if they are still available, but the Deering smiley bridge is similar, just non compensated & since you have a local source for Deering products, keep that in mind.
As with any banjo brindge, the secret is in the placement. A little trial & error works wonders, if you know what you're doing.
