I thought it might be fun to see what everyone has found to be best set up on your Stelling. I love my 84 Sunflower. I play hard and loud. Head tension is 91 on drum dial, GHS strings Medium PF-160 using a 11/16 height bridge. I love the Stelling bridge, but the Scorpion beats everyone out. I use The Stelling Banjo Field Service Manual to start. I then fine tune the tailpiece from there. A little adjustment as to height on tailpiece makes all the difference. I have been told by some I have one of the best Stellings they have ever heard. Geoff Stelling builds one of the finest banjos in the world. Thank You Geoff.

	Ybanjo says: 7/25/2017 3:39:34 PM I have a Staghorn as well as a Carolinian and keep them set up a little different. They both use the Stelling bridge. I have tried and can't find one that is as good, for my sound. I keep the Staghorn head around 90.5 and the Carolinian around 91. The Staghorn is a little more mellow (walnut?) and the Carolinian is a little punchier/brighter (maple). I really like them both and play them equally. Just depends on my mood for that day. The Carolinian is very new, so I tend to play a little more lately, and it's so striking that I like to play it in public, just for the "show"!
	pjgent says: 7/25/2017 9:27:45 PM I have a new Red Fox. I wouldn't know how to set it up if I wanted to. It is all just like I got it from the shop. I like it a lot. The only thing weird that I notice is that some of the high pitched notes seem to resonate strangely. Like some kind of weird harmonics.
	BanjoMSA says: 7/26/2017 5:50:24 AM I am somewhat lucky. The Stelling shop is not far from my North Carolina home. So, when I need a setup, I travel up to the shop and get Geoff to do it. I have a 1992 Masterpiece, Walnut. Very sweet and well balanced tone.

	CAPT Steve says: 7/28/2017 11:20:42 AM Fun trip. Went to reunite my Master's Cross pot with its neck refretted with stainless. Went up over the mountain (gravel road starting 1/3 the way up scared my Wife and Granddaughter) and got to the Stelling homestead and shop on the hollow on the other side. Wonderful visit with Geoff. Geoff reassembled and set up my banjo; think it was DEC '12. I check it periodically for head tension and neck bow, but the instrument is incredibly stable. Think I've tweaked the truss rod a quarter turn once or twice, but that was long enough ago I don't recall. New strings last night (gotta order some more) and all set to sing and play in a trio at church Sunday night. We're doing the original Will the Circle be Unbroken, an a capella version of which Bluegrass Today provided us by Joe Mullins and the Isaacs; not the A.P. Carter Momma's funeral version. Should be fun!
