Sunflower upgrade

From tonwil on 4/12/2017 1:55:23 PM

Is it possible to get an 06 nickel sunflower upgraded to gold/engraved ? It has better than average wood for a sunflower.

Well, since there hasn't been a comment in 12 days time..I guess I'll post one myself. I've played stellings for 25 years and nothing else. I recently bought a chief but it's a different thing altogether and nothing comes close to my stellings. I have three, and have had another. My good friend wanted it who played with Wyatt rice at the time so I let him have it. I just wanted to spruce up the best playing banjo I ever put in my hands. But I can play it in nickel. For 25 years I've told everyone how good stellings are , and have never said a bad thing about them. I will continue to do that as long as I can pick one up.

Tony,
The problem with upgrading an older banjo with engraved and gold plated parts requires that the old parts be stripped, buffed and polished for engraving, then re plated in gold with a nickel base. The other option would be to buy all new parts and get it done as if you were buying a new banjo. We could work out a trade agreement for your old parts. We don't sell new pot parts outside of a new banjo or within such a trade.

On the other hand, it might be to your advantage to buy a new Sunflower built to your specs and sell the old one, or keep them both....

By the way, it might be a good time to remind everyone that I will be at IBMA again in Raleigh this September for the full week. I will have some banjos and will try to remember to bring an archtop. I will also have my new model the Afton Star with no metal tonering, a very hot seller lately, and I'll try to have a newer light weight tonering to display in one model or another. As we get older, lighter sounds better....

Cool looking forward to seeing you Geoff, will you or your crew be doing basic setups and checkout for our Stellings?
