Stelling has turned very bright; action lowered?

For my Stelling's 4th birthday I pulled her apart and cleaned every part...I did it after 2 years, too. However, this time when I reassembled her the action is considerably lower and the banjo is extremely bright. What have I done wrong? Everything is the same set-up---head at 90 Drum Dial, coordinator rods same torque, tailpiece height same, same bridge and strings.

Please help - this is driving me nuts and I have 3 gigs next week. All suggestions welcome.

	Mats W says: 1/26/2017 6:40:10 AM It can be a combination of tightening all parts a bit firmer at re-assembly and a slightly different co-rods set up, even if you think it's the same as before.

	Geoff Stelling says: 1/26/2017 10:49:15 AM Once a banjo is disassembled, all the stresses involved with holding it together are relieved, and that especially involves the neck's truss rod. With no string tension, the neck will tend to flatten out and it may take some truss rod nut adjusting to get the bow back into the neck it had before disassembly. Check the bow by fretting the third string at the first and 22nd fret simultaneously and see how much clearance you have at the 7th fret. If it is less than the thickness of your fourth string or a G string on a guitar, it is too low. Loosen the truss rod nut a half turn or so. Check again. It may help to press down on the neck when you do this. Remember, truss rod adjustments are seasonal. Your rim rods probably had some tensions in both directions that have changed. Loosen the rim rod nuts and see where the strings sit with no rim rod tension. But check the neck bow first....
