i get so dishearten to hear how everyone is progressing and i have been trying to play for 8 months on the 23rd of oct ,

I went to Intermountain Guitar and Banjo yesterday and I was so irritated. Yes, I have a used Dean. I have never played an instrument and didn't know if I would like this. But, for what it is, my Dean is lovely and sounds pretty good. No, it's not a top-notch banjo, but it's a fantastic starter banjo. This guy at Intermountain was such a banjo snob! He was flat-out rude. Told me that if I ever wanted a "real" banjo, to come talk to him, but that he sends people to Acoustic (another store in town) for "crap like that". Why do people act like that? Geez. No wonder Acoustic is where everyone seems to go and where the community here tells you to go.

keysoftune says: 12/8/2011 4:13:09 AM ive met some like that as well it is very discouraging ..these people should encourage us not kick us..i almost quit the banjo because of someones harsh comments made to me.. but a member of banjo hangout forums reached out to me.. so im checking things out here..

Ya it's like bone head drivers out there well there's some in the music world too and some ego trippers also . I have 3 banjo's and one is a cheep open back clawhammer banjo , I have a washburn b9 which is'nt high end banjo and have a gold tone ob250 which is a high end banjo and though i play the gold tone the most i still enjoy greatly playing all three banjo's and diffrent banjo's for diffrent things . You can modify less expensive banjo's like i did with the washburn and the open back banjo and i put a 1/2 foam strip around the inside of the tone ring and it's gave it a deeper richer sound and not so hollow and it got rid of a slight ring-e sound to it also from heaver strings for frailing with . The moral of the story is the banjo creep get's to spend xmas morning looking at his banjo with a lump of COAL sitting on the drum .Then he can go talk to his one and only fan in the mirror till the mirror cracks . >>>Ho - ho - ho Merry Christmas to all my banjo friends i have found here .
