My Scout

From stringman711 on 1/25/2012 8:15:14 PM

I have the second protoype Scout. It has the original inlay pattern that has already been posted on this page, with the addition of the Sonny Osborne signature block on the next to last fret. It being a prototype, I was asked for feedback. One thing on mine was the hole for the fifth string peg was drilled a little too far back toward the peghead. The problem that caused was if you put the capo on to play in B, The fifth peg got in the way, and you either had to put the capo in the middle between the frets or it would be crooked, resulting in tuning problems. This was corrected in the production models. I was going to get a new neck to solve the issue, but chose instead to have Frank Neat fill the first hole and make a new hole in the proper spot. I didn't want to give up the original neck. (A very good neck by the way) I do play this banjo, and it gets better all the time.
