Hello! Just found this group - Thanks to derwood!

I first dealt with Bill when I bought a raw brass tubaphone style tone ring off of him. I had it installed on a custom turned 3/4" maple block rim banjo project. I wanted something along the lines of a Wildwood Troubador. Here's how it turned out.

Then this past spring I bought a 12" Walnut & Maple Dobson tone ring banjo off of Bill's dealer in Acton. Great workmanship!

	SaggyBottom says: 6/28/2011 5:21:58 PM That's a good looking banjo. I think you were bold to go with green as well. My first idea was a blue 12" but finally decided against it and went with a more standard stain-you might say I chickened out ! I'm happy with my Rickard and hope you are too Jack
	Skinner says: 6/28/2011 6:15:12 PM Thanks Jack. Just to clarify, only the tone ring is Rickard on my first banjo project. I was just getting into banjos and didn't realize how much componentry Bill was manufacturing at the time. The spun block rim fitted to Bills tone ring and neck blank were supplied by the Henry J Banjo Shop in IN. I had him send them to a gent out of GA who carved / fitted the neck for me as well as install all the checker binding. All I did was sand, dye and seal the wood components along with the final assemble the banjo. The 12" Walnut & Maple Dobson I have was straight from Bills shop. I would definitely buy another banjo from him again. Speaking of which, I've always wanted to try a banjo with a Whyte Lady tone ring LOL.
	SaggyBottom says: 6/28/2011 7:25:10 PM I have a beautiful Henry J internal resonator pot that Mark Hickler is making a neck to fit probably ready in the next couple of weeks. I'm very excited about this Henry J and Hickler project as I think they are both very talented. Now all I have to do is become a good enough player to "honor" my fine banjos!. I had been waiting for the Rickard when I came across Henry J's work. I didn't really need another banjo but the pot is so pretty I just really wanted it-my first real case of Banjo Acquisition Syndrome (BAS)
	Paula_DHJ says: 6/28/2011 9:31:46 PM Holy smokes! That looks incredible in the green. I would never have thought of that. Hey Saggy, that BAS can be a real son of a gun eh? When Bill and I originally started talking, he was going to make a neck for me to put on a pot that I already had. Between the two of us we kept coming up with new ideas etc. I am now ending up with a completely new banjo. Now I still have a pot that I will be getting another neck made for eventually. Yay! Another banjo.
