Plectrum Exercise for coordination & speed

From Omeboy on 7/19/2017 2:35:56 PM

For the few you out there who are exploring the plectrum, I added a nice old exercise that will help you build up your eye-hand coordination.  It's a descending/ascending harmony exercise.  Of course you'll want to start out slowly with it to see how it all fits together.  Tackle the descending exercise first.  The real benefit to your playing will come when you can finally play this at a nice quick tempo, but as cleanly as you can as well.

In time you can merge both the descending and ascending exercises into one bigger exercise.  It lends itself to any rhythm you might like.  A metronome will help you build up your speed.  And for advanced players, you can use the slip stroke (Up/Down/Down/Down) with it too.  After you begin to gain some confidence with it, have some fun with it.  You can find it in the Photo section of  my BHO web page entitled: "Plectrum Descending/Ascending Exercise."  I run over this almost every time I practice.  It's good for the muscle-memory aspect of your playing
