Fishers hornpipe

From Bilbo1 on 2/10/2011 6:26:37 AM

I just started working on fishers hornpipe, it sounded fairly simple until I tried it!! I've been working on the first few measures this morning but cant get used to using my M finger on the 2nd string, it just doesn't feel natural.

It will come after a while you find times that you have to change fingering to get the fingers coming up in place.

Go over the the FHO and say" Hey, Fisher's in G everybody"..Then RUN....They'll not leave a scrap of meat on your bones.LOL.
It DOES lay nice in G. Took me a little while to get it "Bouncin" right to where the M felt right feeding the I and T to the 7th fret A note in that 1st pass ya use it. How bout that D phrase playin inside at 10-12 frets?... Dont cheat...LOL

Thanks John, suddenly it seems even more daunting!! It's going to take me a while to figure this out.

I do it in c There are a lot of different versions.I saw one the other night from 1799.But yeh you gotta learn to get that finger on that 2nd .Sometimes i take the right hand part of a hard lick like that and just do chord changes with the left. This builds my confidence and i go back and really mess it up then.It is a good tune.

Well I tried Arkansas Traveler in G at a jam. I've nearly healed now... ;)

(they were nice about it really) And I know what you mean about the 'inside' picking stuff...
