I am having so much fun learning banjo by ear. I took lessons and when I retired I moved to the mountains where there are no teachers. I started learning by ear and I am having a ball. It was great taking lessons for a year and getting my foot in the door but to me it seems I can learn a song faster playing by ear then Tabs.

I bought the beginner Vol 1 Murphey banjo lesson CD and things really turned arround for me. I am in the process of learning FMB and it is really fun with this cd I bought. I would recomend this cd for all beginners and for playing by ear.
