Rambler Owners

From GrizClaw on 7/4/2015 10:47:09 AM

It's hard to make decisions without touching and feeling the banjo. I really like the Rambler but the only thing that is new to me is the Richlite fingerboard. I asked general questions about the material but I wanted to ask the owners of Ramblers what you think of the material...my banjos have always had ebony fingerboards so it will be a change for me. Thanks, Rick

Somewhere I read a blog from Patrick Heafner about the Richlite and he says it is great for fretboards. I don't think he'd use it if it wasn't.

Thanks Oldpiper...totally agree but I guess I'm more concerned with the feel and such. I'm totally sold on Patrick and his banjos, it's just that this material is new to me.....and most of my clan is from the "Show me State." Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. Rick

Rick, after reading your thread on Richlite recently, I had the chance to play a Rambler in a local shop again Thursday. Like I said in the other thread, the feel and the look are great. I would not hesitate to own a banjo with a Richlite fingerboard. I understand your doubt as I have always had Martin guitars with Rosewood fretboards. To me the Richlite does not have a synthetic look or feel at all. Hope this helps. Chris

Hey Rick,

I've had my Rambler for over a year now and it's a beauty and a joy to play. Perfect banjo sound.

I wouldn't worry about the richlite for another second. It looks the part and plays the part. In terms of touch, I really can't tell the difference with precious hardwoods. Haven't spent a single thought on it, other than being relieved I'm not killing ancient tropical forests and pristine habitats for my hobby.

Thanks.....and I haven't heard one negative thing from a Pisgah owner....tribute to Patrick!

All this Pisgah talk makes me want another one! I need a full size model to go with my a scale.

And now you guys have gotten me so revved up that I'm going to have to shop for another one....the fellow I was dealing with pulled his ad and hasn't returned my latest email. My own fault....I got analysis paralysis....he was very patient with me....oh well...

Looks like Patrick is building a bunch for Clifftop. I'm sure he wouldn't mind selling a couple before then.

Feeling pretty darn lucky today....the gentleman I had tormented with all my questions and indecision came back this morning and said he would sell me the banjo! And now the "long wait." Rick

My Rambler has arrived! Beautifully built instrument and the tone is amazing. A joy to play.
