LMI Dual Action adjustable truss rod

From Page47 on 9/22/2014 6:56:38 AM

My Pisgah Dobson Rambler had a bit too much neck relief causing some minor intonation and playability issues.  I was measuring about .038 at the 7th fret (I think, assuming I was doing it right).  On a Snark tuner, a tuned up 3 string was registering about 3 Snark bars sharp on the 4th and 5th frets.  Well, I called Patrick and despite the website referencing a "Carbon Fiber truss rod" he let me know that the Ramblers have LMI Dual Action adjustable truss rods.  (Truth be told, I don't exactly recall if he said "Ramblers" have the adjustable truss rod or if he just said he has been using those lately ... the best way to tell is if a magnet sticks to the neck, you know it ain't carbon fiber)  I yanked the neck off and make a quick trip to Lowes for a 9/64ths T-handle Allen wrench and about 1/2 clockwise turn on rod reduced the neck relief and totally resolved my issues!  Plays like a dream now (and in tune): it is amazing the difference a small amount of relief can make.  Word of warning:  truss rod adjustments are scary!  It takes a good bit of eblow grease to bend that neck and if you break or strip the truss rod in the process, you are pretty much boned!  Take is to a professional (unless you are a knucklehead like me).
