My beautiful Pisgah Possum arrived without any documentation. How are these banjos set up? Is the head tap-tuned to any specific note? or the tension set using some other reference? What kind of strings are on them, I'd like to go on using what it came installed with as they seem quite fitting for the instrument.

I've had mine for nearly a year but we've had a very dry winter and I am sure the head tension has changed. The last time I played it didn't sound as good as it did in the past. I'm guessing the head needs to be re-adjusted.

i'm sure the gents at Pisgah would share all this info but I wouldn't waste their time if the community knows and can share.

Sometimes I just look my Pisgah banjo over and just marvel at the craftsmanship.

	Maditayl says: 1/20/2014 4:09:25 PM I've had my tone change within minutes because of temperature change. I live in Florida and mine usually sounds great. Lately with a tad of cold weather its gotten tighter and less plunky.
	BOHICA says: 1/21/2014 5:43:57 AM Head tension is as varied as the person who plays it. Besides weather, what and how you play aso determines it. Look at the head deflection under the bridge. An 1/8" may be too much..that said I know people who had to add material to their bridge because they had the head very loose to get the sound they wanted. Experiment....you will find what you like.
	erikforgod says: 1/29/2014 4:16:03 AM Thats a good question...my Pisgah is fretless and I put the bridge smack in the middle...also I use a custom Tim Purcell bridge for my my banjo. Wouldnt worry bout it to much..
