Now that I've had a few days to spend with my banjo, I have one noticed one thing.

Compared to my other two banjos, the Pisgah is lighter. Something about the lighter pot and the Dobson tone ring combine to make the instrument more sensitive than my other two banjos (a workhorse Deering Goodtime, and a Gold Tone CB-100, which is a tank). So, if one has a certain, ah, casualness of technique, the Dobson sometimes announces it to the world. :) At least, it announces it to me.

I've had to slow down and tighten up on a few tunes, a minor price I'm willing to pay for the tone of the thing.

	erikforgod says: 1/17/2013 5:20:08 PM Yours is the 11" mine is the 12" I wonder if mine will still have that "Light" sensation, although I cant imagine a banjo being much lighter than my Goodtime.
	Maditayl says: 1/17/2013 5:48:37 PM I've noticed the exact same thing. My banjo before the pisgah was some shitty aluminum pot from the 80's. You could play as masterfully as possible and the thing would still sound like a sloppy mess. The pisgah on the other hand, has such a clear tone that the slightest mistake pierces right into my eardrum. In the long run, this will definitely be a good thing. I've already started paying much closer attention to technique
	erikforgod says: 1/18/2013 2:41:58 AM Well it should be a slightly wider neck and slightly wider string spacing...could take a little bit to get used to. I was just surprised that William said it was lighter than a Goodtime. Light is a good thing...thats what I like.

	BillSchmelzer says: 1/24/2013 4:55:11 PM I just purchased a 12' Possum on which the previous owner had the narrower neck installed. Turns out it is identical to the width of my 1997 Goodtime, which is fine with me. I like the lighter weight and the mellow tone. It just arrived yesterday, but already I notice it demands attention to technique. So far I love it. Will post again after we get to know each other.
	erikforgod says: 1/25/2013 8:59:04 AM Bill you said the original neck of this Pisgah banjo was replaced with a thinner one? I guess the original owner didnt like the slightly wider neck? Please post some pictures of it if you can...I would like to see it
